Explorers Club members from across Louisiana shared and reported on their club activities at the annual Explorers Club State Conference and Leadership Summit on May 10, 11, and 12, at the Baton Route Marriott Hotel.
Throughout the academic year, Explorers Clubs support the student motivational and academic programming begun at the Summer Learning Camps. As student leaders, club members engage their peers in positive behaviors across the academic and social spectrum. The Summit, a capstone event, provides student officers the opportunity to present the results of their action plans and efforts in the ABCs (see graphic above).
Special Summit presentations included the LOSFA Fly Team and Torion Sellers, a 14-year-old Louisiana musical prodigy.
Parents attending P3 learned about the LA GEAR UP philosophy and focused on strategies to make postsecondary education a reality for their children and their children’s peers. Parents discussed financial aid and scholarships and wrote parental action plans.
